Design Days were started when I felt that client input on the creative process was paramount to a successful large-scale tattoo project.
Working in tandem with my clients allowed for more transparency, less guesswork, and an overall better client experience.
Consultation
Large scale tattoos require lots of time, energy, and are financially a big commitment. Consultations allow us to get to know each other better, by making sure that personalities, conceptual ideas, and stylistic choices line up with both the artist and the client’s vision.
Concept
Before my client arrives for their Design Day appointment, I spend time researching the ideas discussed at the consultation. I aim to create 3 individual concepts, so we have a solid foundation to review before starting the sharpie drawing phase.
Sharpie Live Drawing
After reviewing concepts, we move to the live drawing phase. I utilize sharpie markers to create the rough sketch, layout, and subject matter, all while taking my client’s concerns and comments to heart.
Review and Trace
After reviewing the entire drawing and taking photos, we utilize transfer paper to shift the design so it can be cleaned up and finalized.
Design and Tattoo
Utilizing the transferred design, I will complete the finished tattoo design. I stick closely to the sharpie concept as my client’s feedback throughout the process shouldn’t be compromised and at this point we start the tattooing journey.
